Dear Sisters & Brothers,

By now, you should have received at your home a packet from Council 36 containing time-sensitive information about our upcoming union contact negotiations. If you haven’t already. please look for this package and open it immediately!

Our current contract expires this June, and AFSCME needs to hear your priorities and concerns as we prepare for upcoming bargaining. The envelope should arrive just after the New Year and contains a bargaining survey that we ask you to complete and return ASAP, in the postage-paid envelope. In addition, we are updating union membership records and have enclosed an AFSCME membership card, which we ask you to complete on both sides and return along with the survey. Everyone's response is vital! Even if you think we may have your information, please complete this card.

The City of Los Angeles is already threatening to take away some of our hard-won benefits and protections as well as reduce our salary potential. We need to push back against these threats just like we did last time. We are determined to fight for you, but ask for your involvement so that we can achieve the best, strongest contract!

Click here for a schedule of upcoming worksite meetings. We encourage each of you to attend a meeting to discuss bargaining strategies and priorities further.
