Dear Sisters & Brothers,

2018 is a big year for 3090 because our current contract expires at the end of June and we’re gearing up to start negotiations on our next MOU very soon. AFSCME Council 36 has sent out a packet to the homes of all city workers with a survey and an updated union card. It is very important that you complete this survey and send it back so we get your input and know what issues are important to you. We’re also hosting a series of worksite meetings to further address member bargaining issues. Click here for the complete citywide schedule.

It is also important that you fill out the new card and send that back as well. By doing these two simple actions – filling out the survey and sending in your new card -- you are not only making your voice heard, but strengthening your union as well. And as always, united we stand.

Local 3090 is excited to announce new and improved eyecare for you through AFSCME Local 3090!  This benefit is in addition to your current city benefit.  As of January 1, 2018, we will no longer have VSP as our provider.  The new provider will be EYEMED.

Yes, EyeMed is the current provider through your L.A. City benefits. However, this opportunity gave us the ability to provide a better benefit to you with improvements in our plans.  We will announce detailed additional information next week to spell out your benefit.

I’d like to take a moment and wish everyone a Happy Holiday and a Joyous New Year from the AFSCME Local 3090 Executive Board. As the year draws to a close, I hope each of you find the opportunity to spend some time with loved ones or enjoy a well-earned break.  We have faced many challenges in 2017, and will surely face many more in 2018, but it is through the strength of our sisterhood and brotherhood that we not only endure, but thrive. And thrive we will in 2018!

Happy Holidays!

In Unity,
