Summertime in the City

Dear Mighty3090,

I hope this message finds each of you happy and healthy.

Here is the latest information from the CAO’s office regarding our pay increases. We recently received our first 3% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) increase. We will receive retroactive pay in approximately 4-6 weeks. There is no set date when we will receive the salary increases, however once received, retroactive pay for those will be again approximately 4-6 weeks. It’s a slow process, but it’s coming. I appreciate your continued patience.

Now that negotiations are over, it is my goal to visit as many worksites as possible. Please send me an email requesting a visit, and I will get it scheduled and come out to see you.

I have reached out to the Los Angeles Federation of Labor to host a food distribution event for those in need at our offices in Vernon. We will need approximately 20 volunteers to assist. If you are interested, please email me. Typically, they are held on a Saturday morning from 7am – 12 pm.

The AFSCME International Convention will be held August 12 – 16, 2024 in Los Angeles this year. We will have more details in the coming weeks.

Remember your Weingarten rights. If you feel a meeting with Management could reasonably lead to disciplinary action, you are entitled to Union Representation.

It is truly my honor to serve as your President, and I will never take my position lightly. It is my responsibility to do everything in my power to see to it that you are treated fairly and equally. Remember, it is YOU that makes this City run. Stay safe!

In Unity and Solidarity,

Larry Gates
