Looking Forward to the Future
Dear Mighty 3090,
November is less than two weeks away, and two notable events are coming up: the first is the General U.S. Election on November 5 (read more about becoming a temporary election worker in this newsletter below) as well as the annual women’s empowerment brunch on November 2 (RSVP by October 25!).
In the nearly two years I’ve been your President, it’s it has been an absolute pleasure meeting so many hardworking 3090 members through events like these, meet and greets, site visits, worksite blitzes, and new employee orientations. Being in this position has been the absolute highlight of my career. With the help of so many members over the past two years, we have accomplished big things:
- 100% sick payout upon retirement, up from 50%
- 12 weeks of paid parental leave, up from six weeks
- Additional Night Differential pay of 2.75%
- Bilingual Differential pay
- Personal Leave Days
- Pay increases for Office of Finance, ITA/311, and others
- Hourly unspecified holiday time
- Minimum wage adjustment to $20/hr increasing to $25/hr by June 2026
- Shoe/Boot allowance for various classes
Additionally, when over 400 of our members didn’t get paid when the transition to Workday took affect, we worked tirelessly with our Business Reps, Payroll departments, and even the City Council to ensure everyone received a paper check by the end of the pay day.
We are so grateful to represent you in your dealings with Management. Often, we find that sitting down with our members and management for a conversation can solve so many issues.
THANK YOU!! Thank you for showing up every day and serving this great City. Thank you for working so hard with so little and still accomplishing great things! I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
In Unity and Solidarity,
Larry Gates
President
