Happy Holidays, Mighty3090!
I wanted to wish all our members a very happy – and well deserved – holiday season. I hope you take time to friends and family and celebrate the considerable wins we made in 2024.
First are our historic contract gains we made in this latest round. Earlier this year, through hard work and perseverance, we adopted one of the best contracts in Local 3090’s history. I want to thank each of the Coalition partners, our AFSCME Council 36 business representatives, for their expertise, knowledge and patience.
Having been a new board when negotiations began, the process was a very eye-opening experience. Finally, when Mayor Bass swooped in the middle of the night to help negotiate the final contract – it was 3:00 am after very long and arduous discussions – we had a tentative agreement within the hour.
Fix LA is Next Focus
Second, with the contract settled, our attention has turned to putting the spotlight on affordable housing, increased wages, and benefits. We will continue our work with our Labor partners in “FixLA”, to fight for all our members to ensure they have sustainable wages and benefits.
With upcoming events such as the World Cup, Super Bowl, and the 2028 Olympics, it is imperative that we work with City officials and take the necessary steps to be prepared for the onslaught of tourists to our great city.
What’s Going On With Bonuses & Retroactive Pay?
With regard to your raises, bonuses and retroactive pay, I do my best to provide you with regular up-to-date information. We share your frustration and anxiety, but I’m sure you understand, we only want to put out correct information. Had I known that the city was planning to switch to a new payroll system (Workday) during negotiations, I would have insisted that either Workday come first, or the items negotiated come first. NOT at the same time. That being said, I received an updated notification from the CAO’s and Controllers office just this week. Click the link here to read more about it.

Our 2025 Executive Board and General Membership meeting schedules have been posted on our website. Please consider attending our meetings.
We try and get around to as many worksites as possible. That is my goal for 2025 – to meet as many of you as possible. Please email us to schedule a visit to your worksite.
