Fight Back Against Layoffs!
Hello Mighty3090,
I hope this message finds you well.
As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, there has been much news about the current L.A. city budget and the huge $1 billion deficit we are facing. How does that affect 3090 members?
When Mayor Bass released her 2025-2026 budget earlier this week, and announced the deficit, she proposed approximately 1,600 layoffs of city workers as a means of closing the deficit. If these layoffs should actually happen, it appears they would affect approximately 330 of our members.
But we’re not going quietly. We plan to fight against ANY layoffs for all of our members. In the coming days, departments will have the opportunity to argue against layoffs before City Council. WE NEED YOU TO BE THERE!
Please join us at City Hall, Monday April 28, 2025 at 4 pm. This will be our time to voice our concerns about any potential layoffs to councilmembers. AFSCME is in solidarity, and 3090 will not take this sitting down, it is time to FIGHT !!!!
Please see the links below for the calendar of council hearings as well as information about layoffs:

Whenever I get updated information, I will be certain to pass it along.
In Unity and Solidarity,
Larry
