Los Angeles City Budget Signed for Fiscal Year 2025-2026

Hi AFSCME Family,

Mayor Bass signed the Los Angeles City budget for fiscal year 2025-2026 on June 6. While we were able to save 1,000 filled positions, the budget still contains roughly 600 layoffs.

The fight to protect the remaining 600 jobs is urgent, so we are planning another virtual meeting on June 26 at 6:00 PM to give an update and to discuss the next steps we must take to prevent these layoffs. (Register here!)

Every one of those positions represents a person, a family, and a service the people of Los Angeles rely on. It is going to take all of us to continue this fight and save these jobs – not just for this fiscal year but for years to come.

So, please make sure you register today and share the above registration link with your co-workers.

In solidarity,

Matthew Maldonado
Executive Director
AFSCME District Council 36
