AFSCME 3090 Joins ‘Staff the Front Lines’ Campaign

On Saturday August 5, Local 3090 joined other locals and AFSCME International for their “Staff the Front Lines” campaign, hosted by the LA Federation of Labor.

We met with LA 15th District City Councilmember Tim McOsker and 54th District Assemblymember Miguel Santiago to discuss the many vacancies in the City’s workforce, and how we can best fill them.

LA 15th District City Councilmember Tim McOsker told attendees, “We need to make sure we are changing procedure in the city of Los Angeles more quickly, create offers to folks so that other folks can come in and join the 21st century to compete with other cities.” – Photo by Andrew Dudenbostel

Following the meeting there was a career fair, where many came to learn where they could find well-paid City jobs.

The AFSCME green bus will head down to San Diego to continue shining a spotlight on the need to fill open City positions.

54th District Assemblymember Miguel Santiago said, “There are challenges in the City. That’s the bad news. The good news is there is the opportunity to help get the quality of services and it depends on the workforce.” – Photo by Andrew Dudenbostel
