More New Members, More New Celebrations

Hello Mighty 3090 and HAPPIEST OF NEW YEARS!

I hope you all had a great holiday with family and friends. As most of you know by now, the Coalition of City Unions has reached a tentative agreement with the City. Details can be found on our website here. The “side table” or classification-specific negotiations are still ongoing.  Once we reach a tentative agreement on those, the proposed terms will then go to the membership for ratification.

Mighty 3090 started off January with a bang. We hosted a VMO (Volunteer Member Organizer) training on Saturday, January 6th. On Sunday, January 7th, we went door-to-door visiting our members. During the week of January 8th-12th, we were out on worksite visits meeting our current members as well as signing up new members.

I am happy to report we signed up approximately 80 new members to 3090! It was a very busy week, but well worth it. I truly enjoy meeting our members face-to-face and listening to their wants and needs. If you would like a site visit, please shoot me an email and we will get it scheduled.

Speaking of schedules: don’t forget to vote in the upcoming Trustee Run-Off Election. Full details are here.

There are even more celebrations on the horizon: this year is AFSCME Local 3090’s 45th anniversary. Your Executive Board will be meeting and deciding how best to celebrate you, the workers, that keep this City of Angels running. Stay tuned for details!

In Unity and Solidarity,
