Side Table Discussions Are Almost Complete
I hope you all are staying dry and taking precautions to keep yourself and your family safe during this heavy rain.
Mighty 3090 is nearing the end of the “side table” or classification specific negotiations. I anticipate their completion in the next week or so. Once we have a tentative agreement on the side tables, we will then package them together with the Coalition of City Unions agreement and it will be sent out to all our members for a vote on whether to ratify it. If it is ratified, the contract will begin retroactively as of December 31, 2023. Our first Cost of Living Adjustment raise (COLA) of 3% will be in our checks at the beginning of April 2024.
AFSCME Council District 36 is hosting a VMO (Volunteer Member Organizer) event planned for March 16 through March 22, 2024. There will be a VMO training on Saturday, March 16th from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. We will then be doing house visits on March 17th from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. From March 18-22th, we will be doing work site visits to get out and see our members and speak to them one-on-one. We are asking for new VMO’s to join us. If you are interested, please email Joniesha@afscme36.org or by calling (213)-487-9887.
CALLING ALL NEW SHOP STEWARDS: Shop stewards are the first point of contact between an employee and management, and they are EXTREMELY important. If you are interested in becoming a shop steward, please email our Vice President, Adda Murillo at L3090VP@afscme36.org. Once we have a list of members interested, we will put together shop steward training.
If you would like us to visit your worksite, please email or call me or any of our Executive Board members and we will get it scheduled. We want to hear from you. This is YOUR union, and YOU make this City run. Without you working so hard each and every day, the city would be in shambles. Thank you for what you do, I can’t say that enough.
Stay safe and dry.
In Unity and Solidarity,
Larry Gates
President
