Together, We’re Bargaining for the Biggest Raises in LA City History
Since August, our AFSCME Local 3090 bargaining team has been meeting with City officials daily to negotiate a strong, new contract with the largest wage increases in LA City history. We know the City can do it, having provided public safety unions with 20% raises – and we’re fighting for nothing less.
Together, we’ve made our priorities at the bargaining table clear — strong and competitive wages, solving the understaffing crisis, defending and expanding healthcare, protecting our secure retirement, and winning an even stronger union voice on the job.
It’s no secret: we’re at an unprecedented moment in City history. Skyrocketing income inequality is forcing more of our neighbors onto the streets, and Los Angeles is in the midst of preparing for two once-in-a-generation global sporting events poised to put enormous strain on the frontline public services our members provide.
Only a landmark investment in LA City members – the largest wage increases in the City’s history – can ensure that the City meets this moment head on. But it’s going to take each and every one of us holding City management’s feet to the fire to make our demands a reality.
The Coalition of LA City Unions has already taken action and we must be prepared to do more. We stood in solidarity with SEIU’s 24-hour strike on August 8, where thousands of LA City workers walked off the job in an historic show of worker power that made national headlines. We rallied with our Fix LA Alliance partners to make LA the most affordable, tenant-friendly City in America. We must continue to stand in solidarity with each other. Our collective union power is what is going to win us a strong contract.
In Solidarity,
AFSCME Local 3090
